Oh boy! Happy B-Day to me, I get my first Mazda!
In my last post, I mentioned I *almost* bought an ‘08 Mazda3. Long story short, the brake calipers seized on the way from the dealership to the third party inspection 3 miles away, and the dealership tried to blame us though the car had JUST come out of their own service department “with flying colors” (their words). So we got the HELL out of that deal.
Fast forward one month, we found a great deal through Avis Rental Car, who were turning over their 2014 fleet of Mazda5 mini-minivans! My wife wasn’t sold on a 3-hatchback, but somehow she was convinced by the Mazda5 (I have eyed them for some time).
So we got a great deal on the car, about $2000 under blue book pricing. Can’t wait for the first road trip!
Oh yeah!

It was in a fleet. There’s like 0.0001% chance it’s a stick

Happy birthday, and nice car! I hope you get many enjoyable miles out of it.
And the 5 has the same suspension as the 3, so plenty of aftermarket support.

@TekamuBurner is right, no way they’d have a stick. The enthusiast side of me definitely wanted one, but the horrible Seattle-area traffic made me appreciate the automatic.
I’m trying to convince my dad to let me take his ‘78 280z, since he rarely drives it anymore. Which would quench the enthusiast thirst.

Yeah, definitely! Feels like more benefits than drawbacks going with the 5 as a DD.
